International workshop on the South China Sea

ENS is heading two Groupes Recherche-Industrie (GRI) as part of the theme Basins and Mountains, one dedicated to the South China Sea and the other to the Eastern Mediterranean Seas, both funded by TOTAL.

The GRI South China Sea has held an international workshop in France from Feb 11 to Feb 12 at the Centre Port Royal in St Lambert des Bois to share ideas on the continental margins and oceanic crust of the South China Sea. It was dedicaded to discussions between experts on the geology of this region or on the processes of rifting/spreading. 50 scentists were present. The registration, accommodation and travel expenses were covered by the GRI. The workshop was a success thanks to the organisation which was facilitated by Commission for the Geological Map of the World (CGMW), and thanks to the active participation of all representatives.
