ABSTRACT :

Several speleological expeditions to western Irian-Jaya have brought a geological section in the Tertiary from the Lutetian time up to the probable Middle Miocene. A study of micropaleontology, sedimentology and SLAR interpretations emphasize the interest of speleology as an additional data acquisition tool for hydrogeologic and stratigraphic study, with implication on oil research.

RESUME :

Plusieurs expéditions spéléologiques françaises dans l'Ouest de l'Irian-Jaya ont pu rapporter une coupe géologique du Tertiaire, depuis le Lutétien jusqu'au Miocène moyen probable avec une première approche de son hydrogéologie. Une étude micropaleontologique, sédimentologique, étayée par l'étude sur images radar, montre l'utilité de l'emploi de la spéléologie dans un but scientifique, avec des résultats étayant les données de la recherche pétrolière.
