GEODYSSEA is a project sponsored under the science directorate of the European Union. The network of geodetic stations covers an are extending from northern Australia to Vietnam and from Thailand to Irian Jaya; plans are being made to extend it to the Andaman and the Nicobar Islands in the future. The project has been sponsored under a scientific agreement between the European Union and the ASEAN; a separate agreement has been made between the project and Vietnam and a further agreement with Australia is in the course of preparation. The report presents the project objectives, the network and the techniques used for selecting and marking the stations, the station characteristics, the observations to date and the current status of the data processing as well as summarising plans for repeat observations.
