BRAIDED PATTERN

Braided pattern is reproduced by feedind the flow with sediments. The alluvial bed is composed of glass beads. River pattern and mass balance (agradation/degradation) both depend on discharge, flume slope and the input sediment supply. Braiding increases for hight sediments supply while single channel geometry is assoiciated to low sediment feed and hight discharge. During this run, the constant input flux is divided by two at the half-time of the experiment. One can see the development of a large braiding pattern in the first stage and the transition toward a downcutting straight channel in the second one.
